Singapore’s first Blockchain Living Lab, initiated by Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), SmartMesh Foundation and MeshBox Foundation, was officially unveiled on January 15. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor David Lee, the leader of the Singapore Blockchain. The President and Vice President of SUSS delivered speeches respectively. Attendees of the opening ceremony included Singapore governmental authorities, financial and blockchain related associations, investment institutions and University faculty and students.

1.Photon optimization related work.

1.1 Living Lab Photon’s environmental dependency confirmation, inspection and maintenance of Photon’s operation-related spectral nodes, PMS third-party commissioned services, PFS routing services, and contract calls to ensure the stability of off-chain payment demonstrations.

1.2 Continuation of analyzing the entrusted deposit function scenario, verify the interaction logic between nodes and PMS entrustment in the IoT node machine payment application, and further expand the scope of third-party service functions.

1.3 Initial analyzation of the necessity of offline commissioned cash withdrawal of nodes and consider using PMS to remove the restriction that both sides of the cash withdrawal channel are online, improving the end-user money withdrawal user experience.

  1. Atmospheric interoperability and preparation for Living Lab.

1.1 Conduct atmospheric cross-chain joint adjustment, confirm the operating status of relevant nodes and resolve the transaction failure caused by the Ethereum fork, and provide technical support for the Singapore demonstration.

1.2 Perform distributed storage mobile client function feedback and extended function analysis, including: adding upload and download lists, sharing payment, etc., to provide a reference for project interoperability verification.

1.3 Perform Pub communication performance analysis of distributed communication applications, analyze the cause of the problem of mobile client remote communication delay, and provide reference basis for subsequent application optimization.

1.4 Continue to interoperate and cooperate with a financial inclusive application project, discuss the transaction security issues that Atmosphere may cause due to the fork during the two-chain cross-chain process, and provide a landing idea for LivingLab interoperability challenges.

Work with the MeshBox team to complete the research on the mobile end of the Tahoe project. The verification functions include uploading, downloading, sharing, and deleting records. Further discussions on technical and version functions with the Tahoe team and MeshBox team.

Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Infocomm and Media Development Authority (IMDA), Singapore Fintech Association, Blockchain Association, Blockchain Enterprises and Scalable Technologies Association (BEST), National Trade Union Congress (NTUC), leaders of Nanyang Technological University and investment institutions such as Longhash, Du Capital, as well as industry experts, university faculty and students attended the opening ceremony.

The National Trade Union Congress expressed the hope that the Living Lab will use the Token Economy in colleges and universities as soon as possible. The officials of the MAS indicated that it would give Living Lab the greatest support!

  1. On January 15th, Singapore’s most influential news channel Channel NewsAsia (CNA) reported the Opening ceremony of the Singapore Blockchain Living Lab. At 2200 that day, Mr. Henry Wang, Chairman of the SmartMesh Foundation was interviewed live on its Programme.

  1. On January 16, Henry visited the Semakau Island. Semakau island is an offshore standalone island in Singapore used mainly for the purpose of landfill. Although it is a landfill, the environment is not unpleasant as one will imagine. The picture below is a real picture of the island.

While landfilling garbage on Semakau Island, Singapore is undergoing ecological restoration and opening up to tourist visits.

Semakau Island is planned as a new energy demonstration zone by the Singapore government. Singapore’s first large-scale offshore power grid system is put into trial operation here. By integrating solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, natural gas and other energy sources, it provides zero-carbon power for the daily operations on the Island. After the development is mature, the system will be used in other offshore islands or remote villages.

  1. On January 17, President Wang met with Huawei ’s former vice president of Huawei Terminals and the person in charge of Huawei ’s global mobile phone market to meet each other and find out potential cooperation opportunities.
