SmartMesh Biweekly Report (2021.11.20–2021.12.03)

This week, Dan Larimer (aka BM) has signed an agreement to join the advisory board of the Singapore start-up MetaLife.social in the SmartMesh ecosystem.  Dan is a technical genius who was also the first proponent of decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) mechanism in 2013.  Dan has also created the world’s first decentralized exchange BitShares, the world’s first decentralized social media application Steemit/Hive, and an improved version of Voice.  Dan created EOSIO a blockchain protocol, powered by the indigenous cryptocurrency, EOS, was a project deemed to be a serious challenge to Ethereum.  The scalability focused debate during 2010 between Dan and Satoshi Nakamoto is a main challenge to development of blockchain technology in the past decade. Dan’s participation in technical guidance of the blockchain and governance protocols of MetaLife and the SmartMesh ecosystem is of great benefit to our cause.  With the addition of Dan’s advisory role for MetaLife, the SmartMesh ecosystem has entered a new and unprecedented chapter of development.

Today, the SUSS-SmartMesh Metaverse Workshop jointly organized by SmartMesh and SUSS was launched at SUSS, with SmartMesh founder and CEO Henry, Dan Larimer, and MeshBox CEO Dr. Peter Yan as guest speakers on metaverse governance, Web3.0 and MetaLife metaverse social network protocol. The event was officiated by SUSS Provost Prof Robbie Goh, the SUSS Professor David Lee Kuo Chuen.

The following is the recent specific work:

  1. Modified Spectrum source code to support SHL, SHR, SAR, CHAINID, SELFBALANCE, BASEFEE, and CREATE2 commands;
  2. Completed redemption function of Tango wallet (reduced staking requirement by 50%);
  3. Updated Tango Wallet iOS version:
  • Adapted to iOS15, adjusting the meshmine module;
  • Increased node redemption by half, allowed redemption without stoppage;

1.1 Provided support for MetaLife social incentives.  Continued with functional design of Photon super node.  Completed incentive process and related interface and parameter design jointly issued by the Photon super node and Hub.

1.2 For Photon application expansion – Performed basic functional tests of Photon super nodes, including: receiving Hub Like data, automatically creating direct channels between nodes and Hubs, dynamically monitoring channel balances and deposits, and real-time detection of node online status, etc.

Ecosystem

  1. Serverless distributed communication and MetaLife support preparations.

1.1 Analyzed and discussed pros and cons of fractal governance, related to goals, splits, trust issues, personnel removal, and other elements for subsequent subjective governance implementation.

1.2 Researched alternative avatar design projects; explored user experience in avatar creation, studied avatar collection methods, data types, permission mechanisms, custom content additions, etc.

1.3 Discussed application interaction logic with MetaLife team, conducted process reference analysis for communication interaction, comment, chat, assembly, and search functions.

1.4 Explored collaboration with third-party GameFi project, analyzed GameFi related processes and technical highlights, discussed use cases in MetaLife scenario.

1.5 Analyzed technical highlights on on-chain data storage, explored feasibility of MetaLife blockchain architecture iteration on access proof, block construction process, content review

  1. Continued work with ecosystem project MetaLife.
  2. Discussed avatar-related collaboration with Metalife and Wolf3D & Ready Player.Me
  3. Contributed to design of creator economy model in MetaLife.

SmartMesh’s business activities  were still carried out in an orderly manner, as follows:

Many may know Dan as the co-founder of EOS and his debate with Satoshi Nakamoto in 2010 that sparked the famous quote from Satoshi: “If you don’t believe me or don’t get it, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry”.  But few people know that Dan is the first proponent of DAO, the Decentralized Autonomous Organization.  Dan’s question on scalability to Satoshi in 2010 remains a challenging problem for the success of Blockchain.  Ten years later today, blockchain development has proven that the issues raised by Dan at that time were very far-reaching.

Dan is a technical genius and a persistent idealist, and has created the world’s first decentralized exchange BitShares, the world’s first decentralized social media application Steemit/Hive, and an improved version of Voice.

He shared that he has been exploring for improvement since these are the first ever projects in each of the domain.  In his opinion, these once sensational projects were not sustainable due to the imperfection in governance.  Recently, ClarionOS was founded by him to create an ideal decentralized social network by combining peer-to-peer communication at layer 0 with subjective governance.  Dan’s colleague, Mike Manfredi, Chief of Staff at ClarionOS commented that SmartMesh ecosystem has addressed the decentralization aspect for an ideal social network which ClarionOS is trying to build.  On the other hand, the governance protocol that Dan has been researching and published in the book called “More Equal Animals” is exactly what the decentralized social network MetaLife needs to establish a global consensus and moderation mechanism.  The signing has brought together the first proponents of DAO and the “One World One Web” Web3.0.  Both parties will work together towards the exploration and research on a Web3.0 decentralized and open metaverse.
