SmartMesh Biweekly Report (2021.05.22-2021.06.04)

A crosschain project, jointly developed by SmartMesh and JEDTrade team, has been approved and funding has been released by the Singapore government to the development teams from both parties. In addition, SmartMesh has also received lecture fees for the Intermediate Blockchain Training Course jointly organized by the Blockchain Association Singapore and Singapore Polytechnic.  Soon, SmartMesh will conduct Blockchain workshops and teaching activities at the SUSS – Singapore University of Social Sciences.  While working on generating cash flow for our projects, SmartMesh will continue to cultivate a blockchain ecosystem and nurture developers for Singapore, so that SmartMesh blockchain and applications can be used more widely and contribute to building Inclusive finance.

The following are our accomplishments in the past two weeks:

1.     Photon Improvement related work

1.1.   Discussed development model for the two-layer architecture of SmartMesh IoT ecosystem, analyzed and confirmed the feasibility of providing multi-channel deposit and lending for a Photon account when using the Spectrum main blockchain and a side-chain.  The research will be referenced as a use case in future expansion of the SmartMesh ecosystem.

1.2.   Followed up with issues found during SUSS Photon demonstration, verified that node discovery is accurate for nodes deployed in different regions, thereby providing support for subsequent expansion of the Singapore’s supply chain ecosystem and beyond.

1.3.   Focused on layer 2 related tasks as part of the ongoing Photon performance improvement project; conducted analysis and preliminary tests on the main functions and performance of the main network.

1.     Atmosphere interoperability and preparations for JEDTrade collaboration project.

1.1.   In preparation for the distributed notary feature and improve cross-chain adaptability, expanded research on cross-chain capability related to IoT, analyzed cross-chain governance and feedback process of the smart contract triggered by IoT sensor device data, on-chain and off-chain.

1.2.   In collaboration with JEDTrade, completed and submitted report to IMDA.  Received review and feedback from IMDA and received the challenge funding.  The project lays a foundation for a successful implementation of the Atmosphere cross-chain interoperability architecture.

1.3.   In preparation for providing technical support to the upcoming IoT storage device selection, conducted a preliminary comparative analysis of the distributed storage mechanism for IoT; compared performance and resource requirement for both on-chain and off-chain type of distributed storage schemes.

Worked on design and development of ecosystem projects; sorted out product business model and product management plans; and discussed feasibility plans, etc.

It has been a busy and fruitful week for marketing and business development. Activities include:

1. This week, SmartMesh team and team of Mr. Meng Yan, Deputy Dean for the Digital Asset Research Institute, have exchanged and discussed technologies related to NFT.  The two parties made preliminary plans for collaboration in developing a new NFT standard.

3. The SmartMesh and MeshBox teams and an ASEAN communications group discussed the deployment of two POC networks.

4. A four-party MOA for deployment of MeshBox and SmartMesh networks for a Philippines agricultural bank has been drafted.  We deeply appreciate and salute the effort of our partners, who continue to work diligently on this international partnership in the midst of tightened travel restriction due to the COVID pandemic.
